The red dogwood is rarer than its white cousin, and far more dramatic. This bloom came from a magnificent old tree in the same grove that gave me Backdrop — a tree that had been doing this quietly, for decades, before I found it. Up close, the petals have a tissue-paper delicacy that the word "fragile" doesn't quite capture, but nothing else came close. At large scale, this image becomes something you feel as much as see. Trained at the Southeastern School of photography, Bodner learned on slide film, printing in the darkroom and currently works with a Nikon Z7 and Photoshop.

State Park Images at Atlanta Airport

Landscape work by Bodner from three Georgia State Parks are on display at the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport. Be sure to look for them as you return from an international trip. They are right before arriving at the luggage carousel.

Flowers tell stories

It's amazing how so much detail shows up each Spring with such little work on our part. The display of color delights, but doesn't last long. It's my goal to catch the beauty each season.
